Lenten Art Display 2.22

Some of us dread Lent as a time where we must “give up.” What if we entered into Lent as a time of renewal and reflection?

The liturgy reminds us that we are created from “dust” (Hebrew aphar) - clay, earth or mud. Lent is thus an invitation to reflect on our mortality through practices like denial, penitence, fasting and prayer. These things are hard to do! Yet, when doing so, we are pulled out of the grave and forward toward Easter and the hope of resurrection.

This year, All Souls is hosting a Lenten Art Display in hopes of embodying the truth of the Lenten season and inviting us all into a deeper level of repentance and faith in Jesus. The art will be on display beginning on Ash Wednesday and throughout Lent.

All visual and literary art on display has been created by All Souls parishioners.
